Race Guide

Course Description

The Skyline Races Half Marathon and 30K brings runners to the top of Billings’ legendary Rimrocks for a race like no other. Experience Montana’s wide-open beauty on a course of moderate elevation changes that makes it ideal for both competitive athletes and first-time half-marathoners or 30K participants. Featuring breathtaking views of the Yellowstone Valley and the Beartooth Mountains, the Skyline Trail section travels along a sandstone ridge, offering sweeping panoramic views. Runners then connect to Skyway Drive, a newer path with gentle curves, rolling hills, open terrain, and distant mountain backdrops. Both distances loop into the Alkali Creek Trail, following a shaded stretch along the creek before heading back toward the finish line at Two Moon Park.
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles): A challenging yet approachable loop with rolling terrain.
  • 30K (18.6 miles): Extends the course with additional elevation and distance — perfect for those training toward a marathon or ultra.
